Will the Embassy of Turkey in Ottawa remain open during the lockdown?
28-day Lockdown for Southern Ontario, including Ottawa
Ontario went into a lockdown on December 26, 2020. The lockdown is in effect for 14 days for Northern Ontario, and 28 days for Southern Ontario. This includes Ottawa and means we are in for lockdown restrictions until January 23, 2021. So how is the Embassy of The Republic of Turkey in Ottawa affected by this?
Turkish Embassy in Ottawa will continue operations during the lockdown
Luckily, the Turkish Embassy in Ottawa will continue business as usual — well, I should actually say ‘business as modified’. Lockdown measures announced by the Government of Ontario does not apply to the Embassy of Turkey. However, this does not mean the Embassy doesn’t have its own restrictions. As a measure for COVID-19, the Embassy currently allows only 3 people at a time inside the consular section. Please prepare to wait outside even if you booked an appointment. Appointments are allotted for 10-minute time slots, but some work requires much more than 10 minutes. That, unfortunately, may result in wait times in the cold for some.
Within the lockdown timeframe, the Embassy will only close for the first day of the new year, January 1, 2021 as it is a scheduled holiday.
